Statement of Intent
As mentioned in the brief, my task is to create 4 bus-stop to promote a new thriller TV drama series for ITV X. This means all of the posters must follow a coherent house style (I have chosen 2 sets of posters that follow 2 house styles) and must be engaging to the audience.
My set target audience is thriller fans of all genders aged 16-25, which means the interests of this demographic are quite unique. The idea for my thriller follows a town ridden with teenage crime, with 2 of the 3 main characters featured on the posters representing this younger demographic. Both a male and a female are featured on the product, which involves a wider audience as this might mean they feel like they can identify with these specific characters, which links to the Uses and Gratifications model. Although both sexes are identified, the thriller genre is seen as more of a male genre, so with a female character on the posters this might be able to increase the audience. The younger target audience will see the posters and potentially be more intrigued to stream the show due to seeing people of their age are represented within the series. The ITV X logo will be visible on each design giving viewers a clear indication of where to stream all episodes.
All 4 posters are quite simple and mysterious, not giving too much away to the audience, yet this may intrigue them to be interested in watching. With the help of the Uses and Gratifications theory, we know that another reason audiences watch is to be entertained. With the posters promoting a crime thriller series, they feature some key iconography such as a detective, which links to genre theory which suggests that certain genres follow conventions and feature key concepts. This is to make the audience feel familiar with the show and the genre that they are watching.
